Garden like the presidents! – Grayson County Library

Early colonists of the 17th and 18th centuries brought knowledge of their existing gardening practices with them, along with seeds & cuttings packed carefully to ensure survival on the journey to North America. On arrival, they often planted essential herbs in a garden by the door, or a ‘dooryard garden’ for convenience.

  • Parsley (Single Italian)
  • Chives (Broad Leaved
  • Lemon Balm (Common)
  • Hyssop (Anise)
  • Dill (Mammoth)
  • Fennel (Sweet)
  • Chamomile (German)
  • Nasturtium (Trailing Mixed Colors)
