Cards and Accounts
Library Cards are free to all residents who live, attend school, own property or are employed in the state of Virginia.
Each person getting a card must fill out an application for a library card.
You will need to bring a photo ID with current address.
If photo ID does not have current address brings at least one other document to verify all applicants’ address.
Other documents may include: Checkbook with address on checks, mail postmarked within the last 30 days and contains the persons name on the mail.
A post card can be mailed to verify the patron’s address, for adult patrons. Applicant must bring the postcard in to the library within 30 days after delivery.
A parent’s or legal guardian’s signature and proof of current address are required on the minor's application for a library card.
Any minor who is legally emancipated must provide court documents to prove that status.
Library Cards need to be in good standing to use in the library or for specified online databases.
Signing a Library Card application and Library Card denotes acceptance of responsibility for all fines and fees for lost or damaged materials.
Your library card can be used at any of the five (5) Wythe-Grayson Regional Libraries or at any of the Galax-Carroll Regional Libraries.
Yes, library cards can be replaced. There is a replacement fee of $2.00 for cards unless the card is being replaced due to normal wear and usage.
All patron information is to be verbally verified by staff before extending privileges.
