Mountain Network Catalog Consortium to Reinstate Fines
In an effort to keep library patrons and staff safe during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, the Mountain Network Catalog Consortium (the Wythe-Grayson and Galax-Carroll regional library systems) suspended all library fines in mid-March 2020. As COVID-19 cases decrease and restrictions relax, the Mountain Network Catalog Consortium must reinstate library fines. Items that have a due date of Thursday, July 1, 2021, or later, will begin accruing fines as they did before the COVID-19 pandemic.
All libraries in the Wythe-Grayson and Galax-Carroll regional systems ended the item quarantine period in early June. All items returned to any library will be checked-in immediately upon return.
Library staff ask patrons checking out items to please pay attention to the due dates on the date due slip that is printed and given to patrons at each checkout. This is the first notice of when items are due back to the library.
To avoid overdue fines, patrons may renew items online through their borrower account or call their local library branch to renew items.
Books, books on CD, and magazines have a checkout period of 3 weeks and can be renewed twice; DVDs have a checkout period of 7 days (1 week) and can also be renewed twice.
The Mountain Network Catalog Consortium libraries appreciate the community’s cooperation and understanding in this matter. If questions, please do not hesitate to contact your home library.
