importance of local historical and genealogical
research, the Board of Trustees of the Wythe-Grayson

collection as part of the library's mission to the
communities it serves. To fulfill this mission, the
regional director is directed to establish and maintain
of materials documenting the history of Wythe and
Grayson Counties on a comprehensive level. In addition,
the regional director will form cooperative alliances
with other organizations interested in the preservation
of local history such as libraries, museums, historical
societies, and genealogical societies to further support
this special mission of the Wythe-Grayson Regional
Library throughout its continued existence.

Research:
Requests for genealogy and local history information
that can be conducted by a general search of materials
on the local area will be conducted if the patron
submits specific information to be searched. Limited
staffing prevents any lengthy research. Any information
found will be photocopied within the fair use guidelines
of the U.S. Copyright laws and mailed or faxed to the
patron. The photocopy charges are $0.20 per page.
Postage charges can vary and are dependent upon the
weight of the materials to be sent first class mail. Fax
charges are $1.50 per page. The library will bill the
patron for these charges.
If the patron's request does not give enough specific
information for an index search or requires detailed
research, the library will furnish names of local
genealogists/historians who conduct research for a fee.
It will be the patron's option to contact these
researchers.
Genealogy and local history patrons are also encouraged
