Description Color photo of a house. Located at the end of Sunbow Drive, Elk Creek. Originally the home place of William Hale (son of Lewis and Mary Hale), m. Lucy Stone (daughter of Jeremiah and Susanna Stone), 1772. In 1843 when site for new county seat was being debated, William offered 5 acres here, but the committee selected land offered by Mr. Long, which is now Independence.
